Politecnico di Torino was established in 1859 and is Italy's oldest Technical University. There are 900 teaching and research staff at the Politecnico di Torino and 875 technical and administrative staff, distributed over 7 Faculties, 18 Departments, 7 Centers and several Research Laboratories.

Three keywords describe Politecnico di Torino's strategies to face the challenges of a rapidly evolving context:

  • flexibility: the University Reform Act of 1999 allowed Politecnico di Torino to start innovative curricula and many of these courses are taught in English.
  • openness: students at Politecnico di Torino receive an education that goes far beyond the technical knowledge necessary for engineering and architecture. They gain the skills necessary to work in the interdisciplinary scientific world of today.
  • internationalization: There are more than 40 integrated curricula leading to a joint degree with the most prestigious Universities in Europe and around the world.

Politecnico di Torino enrolls almost 28,000 students. Each year about 2,300 students graduate and for the most part find employment within 4-6 months.

The teaching covers all fields of engineering and architecture.

Research activities are centered around 18 Departments and several High Quality Laboratories.
