Our era is no longer governed by Moore’s Law. Microelectronic devices that allow machines to not only perform computations but also feel their environment allow for a Connected World; or as more commonly referred to, the Internet of Things (IoT). Such devices are based on known concepts such as CMOS based Imagers or consist of totally novel technologies such as Novel Non-Volatile Memories or Heterogeneously integrated Devices.

STMicroelectronics is one of the main global-scale players in the field of semiconductors and the biggest European IDM (Integrated Device Manufacturer) targeting to bring innovative technologies to its clients that cover applications like mobile, automotive, industrial, IoT and power markets. In this seminar we introduce the different technologies that make part of ST’s portfolio with a special focus in CMOS imagers from technology to system level. The goal is to not only expose student to the technical aspect of the current topics of interest in the industry but also to clarify the position of people in this complex chain: What are the roles of engineers in this chain? We are a diverse team of R&D engineers that cover aspects from system to circuit to device and technology and we will effectively try to give you a sneak-peak in our professional day-to-day work and challenges!
